Playcentre!!!

We thought we would show you all about Playcentre. Basically, it's like regular daycare places - except it's all run by parents, who do training. We also keep our mums and dads in training when they are actually at playcentre with us, by keeping them running around, helping us on the jungle gym, supervising our painting and splashing in soapy water and digging in the sandpit, and packing everything away after us. We want them to earn their keep so we've got to keep them working!!

We have a great time at playcentre and mum has even had to buy us a whole bunch of second hand clothes (and shoes for Rebekah too) so we have 'old' clothes we can get really dirty. We usually have to change at least once!

When we get there, Amy checks out some inside toys but then is usually out the door.

Rebekah spends a bit of time with the playdough, but she likes to be outside most of the time too.
Outside there are so many things to do - Amy likes the slide

And the big coloured balls (that's paint on her face by the way)!

Both girls love painting (and both will paint their faces if given the chance!)

Look at our artwork. We are Piccasos in the making.

Amy's first ever painting:

What amazing use of colour and blending, eh...!

And Rebekah's work today:

She's great at drawing circles! Very advanced art skills mummy thinks ;)

And today Rebekah made a butterfly too. Here he is hanging up to dry.

We love our morning tea!

Rebekah likes to play with the bubbles in the water.

But her very favourite thing is to play on the jungle gym, slides and swings outside!

And all this represents about 15 minutes at Playcentre - we're there for over three hours!! You can see how busy we are, now we just have to train mum to keep up with us, she's always telling us she's tired when we're the ones hard at work! ;)

Piggy tails...

Rebekah got her first pigtails today. They are not the world's biggest pigtails but they certainly are the world's most gorgeous, Mum thinks. They have been a long time coming.

We got beds!

Mum decided on a whim (the way she decides most things) that it might be good for us to have beds now we are growing up. Putting us both in beds at the same time was a great idea, she reasoned. We'll both see it as normal if we're suddenly both sleeping in beds at the same time.

But how to do it? We're too young for bunks. Mum & Dad have a king single bed that's not being used, but our room is too big for two of those, and we love sharing our room together. Plus, it's a long way to fall out of a king single. Two single beds would be pushing it too in our room, and again we reckon we'd fall out of those. Then mum found these cool toddler beds. They don't have a great range available in NZ but they did have a Dora bed, and Rebekah's a recent Dora convert. So, two beds and a few 'accessories' later (a girl's gotta have her accessories, or so mum says), we've got beds! Not cots! Goodbye baby jail forever. And hello sneaking in and out of bed ;)

Rebekah tested out her bed earlier in the day - yep, it makes a great trampoline, it gets a tick of approval!

And it makes a great landing pad too!

So tonight, both our beds were up, and it was the moment of truth for Mum and Dad. Everything started out looking very promising. (We don't like to give the game away early.) Amy even had a specially set up "fall out" zone:

So, how did it go, you ask? Well, Mum and Dad kissed us goodnight and turned out the lights, and all seemed to be going well. After a little while though, they heard some noise that indicated something might be up with us, and went in. They found Rebekah sitting by her toybox playing with her toys and Amy under her bed! So plan B. They set up a temporary barrier on Amy's bed where the gap is, and took all the toys out of the room, and headed out again. They heard Rebekah try the door at one point, and about 45 minutes later when all had been quiet for a while went and peeked in. Amy was konked out asleep, and at first Mum couldn't see Rebekah. Then she realised she was in her bed, but head at the feet end - staring at her with a big grin on her face! So Rebekah and mum had a quick chat, Rebekah showed mum where Dora's eyes, nose, mouth and chin were, and then she slipped out again, with Rebekah happy as Larry. And now we're both asleep!
